Striped rattle ball
The ball turns out to be very soft, light and sounding inside, it is perfect for playing with children. To make such a ball you will need yarn of two colors, namely white and turquoise, knitting needles No. 4, a hook, a needle, a glue gun, padding polyester for filling, peas or beans, two caps from a plastic bottle. So, we cast on 30 loops on the knitting needles. We begin to knit with garter stitch, that is, we will knit all rows only with facial loops. We knit 4 rows with turquoise yarn, then change the thread to white.
We knit 3 rows in white, go to the 4th row and yarn over, and knit, at the very end we knit two loops together. We change the thread to turquoise and do the same on the 4th row as with white yarn. That is, on every 4th row of each color we make yarn overs and knit two loops.
When changing colors, there is no need to cut the threads, just take the desired thread from the wrong side. During knitting, the product should increase on one side and decrease on the other, that is, it will seem to go in one direction. You can knit evenly, but then you don’t need yarn overs and therefore don’t need to decrease the loops at the end of the rows.If you knit evenly, the ball will not turn out in the form of a spiral.
You should get 14 stripes of each color, since you started knitting with a turquoise stripe, you need to finish with a white one. Then you should close the loops.
The loops are closed without using thread, you only need knitting needles. We knit one loop that will go to the right knitting needle, now we transfer this loop to the left knitting needle and knit it together with the next loop, so we continue until the very end of the row. At the end there will be one loop left, which will then be removed when sewing.
We thread turquoise yarn into the eye of the needle, the length of the thread is about 50 cm. We begin sewing with the length of the side.
In the process of threading, we begin to tighten the product a little. When we reach the very end, we tighten it from the wrong side as completely as possible so that there is no large hole.
Now we begin to sew the short sides together.
Turn the product inside out.
We fill it completely with padding polyester.
In order for such a soft ball to ring, you need to make a rattle for it using peas and corks. To do this, take the peas and pour them into one cork, coat the edges of the cork with glue and fasten them to the second cork. Instead of glue, you can use tape. The rattle is ready, put it in the middle of the padding polyester.
We thread the thread through the unsewn side and tighten it tightly. We cut the remaining thread and put it into the resulting small hole.
The holes need to be closed with crocheted circles. To do this, we crochet a small circle of white yarn, and then tie it with turquoise. One circle is ready, we knit the second one in the same way.
Using a glue gun, glue the circles onto the holes in the ball.
This is necessary so that the child does not stick his fingers inside the ball because of his curiosity. Let the glue dry a little. After which the rattle ball is completely ready for play.
