Candlestick made from a wine glass
What would a romantic evening be without candles? They create a special atmosphere for loving hearts. But, like any element used to prepare a romantic evening, candles require special design. Therefore, today we will make a simple and original candlestick from a glass or wine glass with our own hands.
To create a decorative candlestick with your own hands we will use:
- a wine glass or glass;
- water-based paint;
- PVA glue;
- decorative napkins;
- color for paint/watercolor paints;
- sponge;
- heart made of felt and thick burlap threads as decoration;
- transparent silicone glue;
- spray varnish in a can.
At the first stage of work, we begin tinting the surface of a glass or wine glass. To ensure that the paint adheres well to the surface, first degrease and dry the glass surface. Apply paint to the glass using a sponge in several stages, allowing each layer to dry thoroughly. For tinting, it is best to use white paint, and the desired shade can be given to the future candlestick already at the final stages of decoration.
While the surface of the glass dries, we cut out elements from a decorative napkin with which we will decorate the candlestick. It’s better to cut out more components and “figure out” directly on the surface of the glass which ones are suitable for decoration and which ones can be discarded so as not to overload the candlestick with decor.
Using PVA glue, we attach the decorative elements of the napkin to the surface of the glass. Don’t forget to smooth out the wrinkles well and expel any air bubbles from under the napkin, just do it very carefully so as not to tear it.
Dry the surface of the glass, and, adding a little color of the desired color to the paint, tint the surface in the required shade to smooth out the color between the glued elements and the white surface. Color can be replaced with ordinary watercolors. Remember that after the paint dries, its color will become less saturated. Let the paint dry. Additionally, the stem of the glass can be decorated with a felt heart and burlap thread, or any other decor you have. We attach it with transparent silicone glue. It is advisable not to use a large number of decorative elements and you must carefully ensure that they do not subsequently come into contact with the candle, but are located under the base of the stem of the glass.
If the candlestick is planned to be used once, then decor You can leave it unfastened, and after a romantic evening, soak the glass in water and remove the paint from it, giving the glass its original appearance. If the manufactured candlestick will be used repeatedly, then it is best to open the surface with a special spray varnish so that it can be washed or wiped with a damp cloth if necessary.Now all that remains is to light the candles and indulge in romance.
