How to remove a dent in wood
The strength and hardness of wood is several times less than that of metals, even something as soft as aluminum. Therefore, when working with wood, especially at the final stages of its processing, you should be especially careful.
A dent may appear from careless handling of a heavy tool (hammer, axe, chisel, etc.) when processing wooden surfaces. Having fallen out of your hands, they will certainly leave a mark on the tree.

Finished products (table, chair armrests, door, sideboard surface, wooden floor) may also suffer for one reason or another during their operation or the next restoration repair.
The dents themselves may be small, but the surface is exquisite furniture, especially with directional lighting, they will make an unpleasant impression and spoil the overall perception of the product.
Is it really worth replacing a completely expensive item because of such a small defect? Luckily, there are all sorts of things you can do to help get rid of this little damage. Below we will consider one of them, which will not require much time, effort and material costs.
We should have at our disposal:

It is completely simple and obvious. Its implementation does not require any preparatory work, except for heating the iron by connecting it to an electrical outlet and drawing half a glass of water from the tap.
So let's get started:
1. Pour a small amount of water onto the surface of the dent that we need to remove. It is enough for the water to cover the deepening of the defect, but usually due to surface tension forces, it will rise above the dent in the form of a small bump.

2. Cover the area of the wooden surface with the dent with a piece of fabric in one or two layers, depending on its thickness, and wait a few seconds for the water to be completely absorbed into the fabric.

3. Apply a well-heated iron to the fabric and hold it in one place for several seconds. Then we make circular movements with the iron in the area of the dent for some time, tearing it off the fabric from time to time so as not to burn it.

In one pass, the dent may not be completely removed, but it will be noticeably reduced.

4. Continue manipulating with the iron until the fabric becomes almost dry.
5. After this, remove the fabric and make sure that the dent has disappeared. This happened due to the fact that damaged and deformed wood fibers absorbed hot water and, under its influence, expanded and acquired their previous volume (shape).

Finally, to bring the surface to full restoration, you can go over the entire surface several times with fine sandpaper.
