Repurpose an old sweater into socks
Warm socks do not have to be knitted all winter in the evenings. You can sew socks from the sleeves of an old warm garment in half an hour. They will look very cozy. In such a hand-made miracle you will always be warm and comfortable. How to remake a sweater?
House boots from an old warm item are sewn like this:
1. First, you should test the sweater sleeves to see if they are suitable for making socks. To do this, pull the sleeves over your legs. If the elastic band does not press, then everything is fine and you can continue.
2. The sleeves are cut off completely. Then you should cut it off obliquely so that there is no accordion on the heel when you pull the future sock onto your foot. To do this, cut the sleeve at an angle of approximately 45 degrees. The heel should be on the side where the seam is.
3. The sole is cut out. This is very easy to do if you have some kind of insole.
4. The sole is cut out from some part of the item.
5. Turn the stockings inside out and the sole should also be turned inside out. The stockings are sewn together with the bottom of the sock. It is better to start stitching from the heel.
6. Turn the resulting sock right side out.You should put it on and see where the excess fabric should be collected in the front. A fold of fabric is made at the front and stitched with thread.
7. A button of a suitable size is sewn to the ends of this seam.
8. Stylish indoor socks and boots are ready. You can make the sole from leatherette. To do this, an additional sole is sewn on top, which will be resistant to abrasion.
