The second life of a Soviet camera
It’s no secret that Soviet optics were the best of their kind; even now enthusiasts attach old Soviet professional lenses to modern cameras. We will try to do something even more original and attach a photosensor from a regular USB webcam to the old SMENA 35 film camera
For this experiment we will need:
1. Disassembled working webcam, before disassembly it looked like this
after disassembly
the board itself with a photo sensor
Blue electrical tape was used to attach the sensor. Of course, you could have used something more practical, but it will do in a hurry!
Due to the fact that the size of the sensor (two match heads) and the size of the frame are very different, only part of the lens image will get into the sensor and even from a short distance it will be “large”. That is a great magnification effect!
Photos taken by digitized Smena 35 from a distance of 6 meters:
I am sure that you can give a second life to your broken Zenit or Fed and use such a “rare webcam” for your pleasure. It’s better not to mess with working cameras, film is still relevant
z.y. The lens aperture will be many times greater The same plastic masks that are used in Chinese webcams, therefore even in low light the picture will be much better!!!
Good luck !
