Screwdriver holder made of PVC pipe
In this master class I will tell you how you can make a holder for a cordless screwdriver from a PVC pipe.
For this project you will need the following.
Materials:
- PVC pipe with a diameter of 75 mm.
- Wood screws.
- Washers.
Tools:
- Drill and drill bits.
- Cutting machine with table, miter saw and other cutting tools.
- Construction hairdryer.
What and why
From time to time I try to improve my workshop. I’m trying to use her space rationally and make everything more convenient. Today it's time to store my cordless screwdrivers, because leaving them on the table all the time is not the best option.
I used PVC pipe with a diameter of 75 mm. This is a regular pipe that can be found at any hardware store. I measured and made pieces of the required length. For my tools, 23 cm works best.
cutting
I noted how deep my tools would be inserted.
I did this job on a cutting machine. As a limiter, I attached a clamp to the table so that the cutting depth remained the same for all pipes.
Then I placed marks 4 cm on each side of the inner edge of the cut and made a notch between them using a miter saw.
All of the above work can be done using an angle grinder or even a hacksaw. In my case, I used what I had on hand and tried to get the job done as quickly as possible.
Giving the desired shape
The diameter of the pipe was not enough to accommodate the tools, so I heated the cut parts with a heat gun and bent them the way I needed. At this stage, be consistent, do not try to do everything at once. Because you can bend the pipe too much or even break it.
I cleaned up all the sharp edges using a knife and P80 sandpaper.
Fastening
I drilled three small holes in the top of the pipe for mounting on the shelf. And one big one on the opposite side - it will help you get to the head of the far screw.
I tightened three small screws with washers. The washers will help distribute the weight of the screwdriver over a larger area of the pipe.
Result
The work took 40 minutes and the device was very inexpensive. I liked what I got and wondered why I hadn't made holders like this before.
I think this is a tool that everyone should have, especially if you have multiple screwdrivers.
