How to convert a light motorcycle into an electric bike with minimal modifications
Electric motorcycles are very profitable in terms of operation, but since they are a new product, they are still expensive. If the appearance of the equipment is not critical for you, then you can, at low cost, convert almost any light motorcycle or moped into an electric bike, thereby eliminating the need to buy gasoline.
The proposed option of converting a motorcycle into an electric bike involves maintaining the gearbox and making minimal design changes to it. Before installing the electric motor, you need to remove everything unnecessary from the motorcycle engine, making room for modernization.
The emission will take the carburetor, cylinder head, cylinder, air filter.
The protruding connecting rod can simply be sawed in half so as not to complicate disassembly.
It is necessary to prepare a place for connecting the electric motor shaft to the timing chain, using a standard sprocket for this.
Next, a thick steel or aluminum plate is cut out to install it as a spacer under the electric motor. It is attached to the remains of the gasoline engine through standard holes for screwing the cylinder.
The standard BM1418ZXF motor has a built-in gearbox that needs to be removed.
The previously removed sprocket is installed on the electric motor shaft. A chain is placed on top of it and tension is given to mark the attachment of the electric motor to the plate. Holes are drilled according to the markings, and through them it is secured with bolts and nuts.
To power the electric motor, a battery is installed on the motorcycle frame. By removing unnecessary parts, there will be room for this. The battery is equipped with a universal controller. The headlight, brake lights and turn signals are connected to it. Naturally, the motorcycle’s on-board network is being modernized, since the old one is incompatible with the new 48V battery.
Thanks to the retention of the gearbox, the motorcycle can be driven at different speeds, despite the fact that the electric motor always produces the same speed. At first it will be unusual with the new controls, but you can get used to everything. The main thing is to drive carefully and smoothly, since the timing chain is still not as strong as the drive chain. The proposed motorcycle conversion solution is suitable for almost any bike. The main thing is to understand the idea itself in order to modify this design to suit the structural features of your gasoline engine.
This electric bike accelerates perfectly to 50 kilometers per hour.
