Cheap heating for a greenhouse in spring
In spring and even early summer there are returns of frosts. In greenhouses at this time, seedlings sprout en masse and grow rapidly. To prevent it from suffering from temporary cold snaps, the greenhouse must be heated.
This can be done in different ways, but easier and cheaper - using the liquid candle method. Moreover, it can be organized by anyone, even a grandmother, and very quickly, which is very important, because night frosts in the spring come suddenly and without any warning.
To implement heating of a greenhouse using a liquid candle, you need to prepare the following materials and items:
The tools you will need are a drill or just a sharp knife, as well as a contact or remote thermometer to control the temperature.
We collect a liquid candle, which is very simple to make.Place a candle at the bottom of the tin can and fill it with a thin layer of alabaster solution. After the alabaster has set and ensured the stability of the candle in a vertical position, pour sunflower oil into the jar.
By the way, such a jar can be used many times. If another candle burns out, then drain the remaining oil, pour hot water into the jar to remove the cinder, and put a new one in its place.
We place the liquid candle in a metal bucket, in which we make several holes at the bottom and top for ventilation.
Air enters the bucket through the lower holes to maintain the fire, and combustion products are removed through the upper holes. Close the bucket with a lid.
After the air inside the bucket has heated up, we measure the temperature on the surface of the lid, which reaches 70 degrees Celsius.
Considering the volume of the bucket, it can be argued that such a device is able to heat a small greenhouse in the off-season.
This simplest method for heating greenhouses in the spring is probably the cheapest. To organize a liquid candle, we buy a 0.9 liter bottle of oil for 50 rubles and a candle for 15 rubles. For one charge, half a candle and less than ⅓ bottle of oil is enough, respectively, 8 and 17 rubles or 25 rubles in total.
It has been verified by experience that one refill of a liquid candle is enough for four days, that is, 100 hours of continuous operation.
If the greenhouse is small, then in the spring, with the help of one or two liquid candles, you can maintain a positive temperature in the greenhouse, spending about 25 kopecks per hour of heating. This is very cheap compared to other methods, but no less reliable.
