How to make a float to control the water level in a container from a distance
If you have a summer shower, you periodically have to climb the ladder to check the water level in the tank. To avoid this, you can insert a float into the barrel, which shows the degree of filling from the ground.
Materials:
- a piece of polystyrene foam or polystyrene foam;
- heat shrink tube or electrical tape;
- plastic hanging flower pot holder
Control float manufacturing process
The first step is to measure the height of the tank from the inside from the bottom to the lid. The height of the float made should be the same. Next, take a plastic twig from a flower pot holder and sharpen it. Its second end with the mounting platform must be trimmed.
The resulting erase is stitched into polystyrene foam.
On the reverse side, the rod is fixed from below with a heat-shrinkable tube or electrical tape so that it does not fall back.
Its upper end needs to be made visible. To do this, you can wrap electrical tape or apply colored heat shrink. Now all that remains is to cut the foam in a circle to get a floating puck.
Instead of hanging pots, you can use a fishing float, extended with a cocktail tube, or other thin, lightweight rods.
To install the float, you will need to drill through the tank cap. Its antenna is then inserted into the hole and the lid is closed once the container is filled. As soon as the float drops completely and is no longer noticeable, it’s time to add water.
