How to start a motor from an HDD without transistors and microcircuits
Surely you have not one, but rather several outdated hard drives lying around in your closet. These samples can be excellent for simple homemade projects.
The HDD has brushless, brushless motors that are controlled electronically. This engine is very easy to start without any electronics, without transistors and microcircuits. So this opens up an excellent field for using these motors in your crafts.
Simple life hack: How to start an electric motor from an old HDD without electronics
Open the hard drive case. Everything is not so simple here and you will have to get a special service screwdriver.
Having disassembled the body, we remove the floating heads. Unscrew the disk from the motor.
Next, the motor is unscrewed from the bottom and removed from the housing.
Now we will solder the wires. If there are only 3 contacts coming out of it, then we simply solder the wires as in our case. If 4, then we simply connect the 2 central ones together and also output 3 wires.
Solder a 3300 uF capacitor between the middle and any other wire.In the future, instead of one capacitor, you need to use two identical ones connected in back-to-back series, since the voltage is variable.
We connect alternating voltage from the transformer 8 V 50 Hz to the extreme terminals. In principle, the motor starts running at 3 V.
That's all, the engine starts to spin.
Of course, its speed is not the same as from an electronic driver, but still normal to use it in practice. Since the decisive factor for rotation is frequency, increasing the voltage does not affect the increase in engine speed.
