How to make a 12 V Li-ion battery from a laptop battery and PVC pipe

If your 12 volt acid battery has failed, you can replace it with a new one from an old laptop battery. Li-ion batteries in some cases have advantages such as current strength and capacity. As a matter of fact, this is why they are used more often than others. This homemade battery will be very useful in the workshop for powering various flashlights, dremels, screwdrivers, etc.

• A piece of plastic 3 mm.

Making a 12V Lithium-Ion Battery

We take a 90 mm PVC pipe and cut off a section with a margin with a hacksaw. We heat the section on gas and shape it using two metal blanks. First one corner: Then the rest until the round one turns into a square one. We cut it with a hacksaw. We go through it with a file, removing all the burrs. We cut out two plugs from a piece of white plastic. We glue one rhinestone with super glue. We disassemble the laptop battery and take out the batteries. You need to collect 9 pieces. Tape it together in sections of three.We connect on both sides with a common wire. So, there should be a total of 3 sections with three elements each. We solder the charging controller, also known as a balancing board. We cut out the terminals from the body of the old battery. We make cutouts in the second plug and glue the terminals with super glue. We install the assembled battery with the board. Solder the wires to the output terminals. Close the lid and secure it with glue. Let's check. Low voltage because batteries are low. We charge from the block. Checking under load: Everything works perfectly. The charging controller performs many battery protection functions:

• Controls charging and prevents overcharging in general and individual cells.
• Controls the discharge and will not allow it to discharge below the level.
• Controls current consumption.

In general, the battery is completely autonomous and can be used wherever necessary.
