Pendants in the shape of a swallow
The image of a swallow, a symbol of the beginning, the arrival of spring, goodness, luck and fidelity, is often used in paintings, embroidery, tattoos and other artistic creations. The popularity of using graphic motifs with a swallow is due to the positive influence of this symbolic image on the course of life events. In this master class we will consider in detail the process of making a talisman pendant in the shape of a swallow.
You must first prepare the following materials and tools:
On a sheet of paper, draw a small swallow, focusing on the photo above. If your artistic abilities do not allow you to redraw the bird, then you can simply print the picture, adjusting the scale so that the size of the printed image matches the selected pendant size.
We cut out the image of a swallow along the contour using nail scissors.
Roll out the white clay on a board using a rolling pin and add a swallow cut out of paper.
Using a knife, cut out a swallow's breast from clay, adhering to the edge of the cut-out image. Carefully remove the paper swallow and remove excess clay.
Knead the black clay into a layer and place it on an acrylic board.
Place a paper image of a bird on the spread clay layer and carefully roll it with a rolling pin.
We cut out the swallow's body along the contour with a knife for working with clay.
We place the resulting element on the foil on which we will bake the product, so as not to move the swallow any more and, accordingly, not to deform it. Remove the paper.
We place the previously cut breast inside the clay swallow body, in the place where it should be located.
We make an eye with a toothpick, and with a plastic knife we go along the contour of the swallow, removing excess clay and straightening the edges. We pay special attention to beak alignment.
We carefully roll the swallow with a rolling pin so that the white plastic is pressed onto the black and the surface of the suspension is as level as possible. After rolling out, we repeat the procedure again, leveling the contour with a knife - we cut where necessary, where necessary we press and smooth the clay.
Having achieved the flawless appearance of the swallow, put the pendant in the oven and bake at 110° for 20 minutes (other temperature and time conditions may be observed depending on the instructions accompanying the polymer clay).
After our craft has cooled, we glue a small ring to its reverse side (silver or gold, depending on taste), into which we extend a chain with a pre-attached lock (you can take a silver or gold chain available among the jewelry). If desired, you can coat the product with glossy varnish. The swallow pendant, a symbol of the beginning of a new happy stage in life, is ready!
