Pillow with puffs “Crimson silk”
A long time ago I wanted to create luxurious raspberry or burgundy satin pillows with ribbon ruffles. Moreover, in the interior of the bedroom, the necessary colors of burgundy, gold, and orange were somehow selected, which were in harmony with the style of the burgundy-crimson pillows.
So, to create a pillow measuring 30*30 cm, you needed a piece of artificial silk measuring 42*42 cm and a smaller piece of fabric measuring 32*32 cm.
1. Mark the fabric: on larger fabric 42*42 cm we make indents for seam allowances of 1 cm and 10 cm for the edge of the product, for a total of 11 cm from each edge. But you can do it simpler: mark the center by folding the fabric in half - vertically and horizontally on the reverse - wrong side of the fabric. Since after this you will need to mark 15 cells of 2 cm each, that is, 30*30 cm, then from the intended center we put 15 cm up, down, left and right
2. Now we mark 2 cm along the lines that are marked in the middle of the fabric and draw cells through the center with tailor’s chalk. It is very convenient to work with a ruler, since it is exactly 30cm.If the pillow is planned to be larger, you need to acquire a special tailor’s iron ruler of 1.5 m.
3. According to the diagram, draw crosses in the cells
4. Now we will make puffs: to do this, we will sew our squares diagonally according to the pattern, capturing the edges of the fabric. The arrows indicate the direction of the needle
5. We tighten the thread and make 2-3 stitches to secure it and we get this flower from 4 petals from the wrong side of the fabric
and on the front side of the fabric - square
6. This is what the 4 flower element looks like from the front side - a little sloppy.
To achieve a better appearance of the buff, you need to connect the flower petals horizontally from the inside out:
and vertically:
and the tops of the flowers among themselves:
Here's what happened as a result:
You can see the differences between the two elements on the front side: below is the processed element:
7. This is what the front side should look like when fully processed:
Along the edges you need to fold, gather and stitch the ends of our puffs, and then sew the wrong sides together 1 cm, allowing for seams, leaving 5 cm unstitched for stuffing. Then turn the pillow out and stuff it with holofiber, stitching the remaining 5 cm. The little pillow turned out just right: the cat sat on it very comfortably!
