Knitted pillows for the car
Decorative pillows are popular among both crafters and consumers. Unlike embroidered and sewn models, knitted pillows require more time to produce, but the resulting result pleases with its originality and exclusivity.
To make knitted pillows you will need:
- woolen threads for fabric and pattern;
- hook and knitting needles;
- drawing diagram, scissors;
- fabric and filling or ready-made small pillows.
First, we decide on the size of the pillow, select a pattern and calculate the number of loops. We knit the fabric on the knitting needles with a 1x1 elastic band, which creates volume in the fabric and makes it visually easier to see adjacent rows. In this case, we knit 40 rows using knitting needles No. 5 with white and red threads.
Then we connect the two sides of the pillow with a crochet hook and create a pattern. First, let’s prepare threads for the pattern that are 6-7 cm long, so that the thread is twice as long as at least 3 cm.
Otherwise, when washing, the threads will come out of the product.
In our case, for Lesovich we need threads of orange, beige, off-white, black, green and white and red threads for the background.
Now we create a pattern from the middle of the pillow, securing the thread as a fringe:
1) fold the thread in half;
2) we drag the resulting loop using a hook into the desired loop of the pillow;
3) hook the ends of the thread into the loop;
4) separate the ends of the thread in different directions, firmly securing the knot.
Thus, we create a drawing according to the chosen scheme.
To prevent the threads from interfering, they can be moved in the opposite direction.
After you have finished knitting the pattern, close the background according to the same plan.
In our case, the knitted pillows are two-color: red and white.
Next, use a comb to smooth out the threads to create a pattern.
If necessary, trim long “tails”.
Then we insert the pillow into a knitted pillowcase or fill it with filling. Please note that a pillow knitted with fringe on both sides can be filled with padding polyester immediately without a fabric lining, since the fabric is dense.
If the knitted fabric is “loose” and the pattern is only on one side, then sew a fabric pad. Now we sew the last side of the product or sew in a lock if desired, straighten the pattern, and the car knitted pads are ready!
These knitted pillows can be made in any shape and size, which will add comfort to your interior!
