How to prevent an open tube of superglue from drying out
Oh, how many open tubes of super glue were damaged in my time... The situation is standard: you need to glue some small thing. Naturally, to do this, open a new tube of super glue and glue it. Next, close and remove the glue. But this is not a problem - even tightly closed glue in a tube dries out and becomes unusable in the future.
Why is this happening? The seal is broken and a sufficient amount of air has entered inside. Or the lid did not close as tightly as it might seem, which is more likely.
Although, to be precise, super glue does not dry completely from the air. Its main component is cyanoacrylate, which reacts to moisture, which is precisely what is contained in the air.
How to prevent an open tube of super glue from drying out?
There is one very simple and effective way. We take a jar with a tight-fitting lid that is screwed on by hand.
Place a handful of rice in it at the bottom.
Next, take super glue.
Place in a jar of rice and close the lid tightly.
Thanks to this simple method, the glue will not dry out for a long time.
What's going on inside?
The fact is that rice absorbs moisture from the air well, a kind of silica gel. As a result, dry air is formed in a hermetically sealed jar. That's the whole secret.
Instead of rice, it is also fashionable to use salt or soda. To ensure that the filler absorbs moisture as well as possible, you can dry it a little in the oven. Of course, in general, ideally, use silica gel itself, which can be found in boxes when buying new shoes.
Now, even if the tube is not closed tightly, the glue in it will not dry out.
