How to install an angle grinder disk on a 12V engine without a purchased adapter
The 12 V motor shaft is very thin, so installing a grinder disc on it is problematic. To do this, you can buy a special adapter, which is very difficult to find on sale. It is more practical to make it from readily available materials already available.
What you will need:
- ball pen;
- insulating tape;
- washer;
- PET bottle cap;
- M4 screw.
Adapter manufacturing process
Before making the adapter, you need to drill the electric motor shaft from the end for the screw and cut a thread in it. Then a thick-walled ballpoint pen housing is tightly fitted onto it, drilled to the required diameter.
The handle is cut flush with the shaft. Electrical tape is wound on top of it, just under the engine.
Next, you need to start the motor and grind the handle body before winding it to install the washer.
A washer is put on the groove. Then electrical tape is wound in front of it to bring the thickness of the adapter to the mounting diameter of the angle grinder disk.
The engine starts, and the insulating tape protruding in front of the shaft is cut off, if necessary.
Then you can put the disk on and tighten it with a screw and washer through the bottle cap.
