How to remove superglue from clothes or surfaces - three ways
Superglue, which is widely used in everyday life (superglue “Moment”), is made on the basis of cyanoacrylate. If it gets on your fingers, it can instantly stick together the skin and causes certain difficulties when washing off. When this glue gets on the fabric of clothing, a hard, difficult-to-remove whitish stain is formed. Let's look at several ways to help get rid of superglue stains.
Method No. 1
We will need acetone or a liquid based on it to remove nail polish. You also need to have a regular cosmetic cotton swab (can be replaced with a white cotton cloth).
Wet the glue stain on the clothing with acetone or nail polish and wait 15 minutes. After this, moisten a swab or cloth and rub the glue stain. Gradually, the fabric in the area of the superglue stain softens and the stain disappears. If once is not enough, you can repeat the procedure.
Method No. 2
The second method is based on thermal destruction of superglue stains on cotton fabric. To do this we need an iron and a piece of clean gauze measuring 50 x 50 cm.
Fold the gauze 4-5 times and cover the glue stain with it. The area of the gauze folded several times should exceed the area of the working surface of the iron. Set the iron temperature regulator to the middle position (cotton fabrics) and iron the area of the glue stain several times. We carry out a visual inspection and iron it again if the stain or part of it has not disappeared.
Method No. 3
If superglue accidentally gets on a different surface (wood, metal, glass, plastic, etc.), it can be removed using a special solvent. To do this, we need a 50% or 70% solution of dimexide or dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), freely available in pharmacies. And also a clean cloth or cotton swab to remove particles of dissolved glue.
We wet the dried parts of the glue on any surface with dimexide. You must be patient and wait at least 1 hour. Then use a cotton swab to remove particles of dissolved glue. If necessary (large heel of glue), we repeat our steps until a clean and smooth surface is obtained.
conclusions
With some effort, we can always remove strong and practically insoluble superglue from the surface of clothing or furniture and other items. When working with solvents, it is advisable to have thin rubber gloves. The room must be ventilated.
