Cast iron frying pan: cleaning and care
Traditional cast iron frying pans have one drawback - over time, food begins to burn. It takes on a dark, ugly appearance and makes the cooking process more complicated. If the carbon deposits are not very old, then you can not only get rid of unpleasant phenomena, but also prevent their occurrence in the future.
You need to prepare a detergent with a surfactant, a dishwashing sponge, paper napkins and vegetable oil.
Rub the speed thoroughly and generously with detergent.
Then rinse and wash the surface of the pan, using a sponge and detergent. Clean the dishes from all sides.
Rinse the frying pan under running water to remove not only dirt, but also washing liquid. This is a rather aggressive chemical composition; if it enters the body, it can cause allergies or serious diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.
Heat the frying pan on the stove until all remaining moisture is removed.
Pour in 30-50 ml of vegetable oil and rub it over the entire inner surface with a paper napkin. Do not leave any gaps; rub the oil forcefully into all microcracks. It is in them that soot forms first and food sticks.
If the napkin becomes dirty, the operation should be repeated. Do this until the soot disappears. Apply vegetable oil again and wipe the surface.
Place the pan in the oven and turn it on to the highest heat setting. Leave the dishes in this state for 40-50 minutes. Do not forget to turn on the hood fan at full power, otherwise unpleasant odors will appear in the room.
During this time, the vegetable oil will dry and cover the bottom of the pan with a thin, perfectly smooth layer. Cooking food and fresh fat will not stagnate in microcracks, and the intensity of their burning will be significantly reduced.
Check the effect, you will be pleasantly surprised. Not only steak, but also vegetables are excellently cooked in a frying pan and fried for first courses.
After each cooking, it is recommended not only to wash the frying pan, but also to wipe it with salt.
Its small particles remove carbon deposits from all small cracks. Then the surface should again be lubricated with vegetable oil and dried on the stove. There is no need to put it in the oven anymore.
The method is only effective for dishes that are not very dirty. If the deposit is old, then you need to use other methods to remove it.
