Solving the problem of fogging of plastic windows
If there is insufficient air flow in the house, exhaust ventilation does not work well, so the humidity in the rooms increases. This manifests itself in fogging of glass on windows, the appearance of fungus and mold on slopes. Initially, most old houses were designed only with exhaust ventilation. The air flow into them is realized due to the cracks in the entrance door and wooden window frames. After installing PVC windows and steel doors with a seal, fresh air in the room ceases to flow in sufficient quantities. This causes stagnation of humidity. This problem can be solved with a homemade ventilator heated by a radiator.
Materials:
- cable channel 70x70 mm with two plugs;
- corrugated pipe 50 mm;
- insulation for pipes according to the diameter of the corrugation;
- mosquito net.
Assembly and installation of the ventilator
To install the ventilator, you need to drill a through hole in the facade of the house directly under the window sill, slightly above the heating radiator. You need to drill with a slight slope down towards the street. The hole is not located in the center, but at the beginning or end of the battery. Its diameter is selected to match the outer diameter of the existing insulation for the pipe.For drilling, you can invite specialists involved in diamond drilling or installation of air conditioners. It is also possible to simply buy a concrete crown and an extension for the hammer drill to do everything yourself, but with dust.
Insulation with a corrugated pipe is inserted into the hole. It is closed from the façade with a piece of mosquito netting to protect against the penetration of insects. From the side of the room, the tube with insulation is cut off with a slight projection into the room of 2-3 cm.
Next, a cable channel is taken along the length of the battery, preferably at least 1 m, and a hole is cut at one end for the insertion of the corrugation. The channel is screwed to the wall with self-tapping screws, docking with the pipe. End caps are installed on it. A window of approximately 50x50 mm is cut into the front cover of the channel on the opposite side of the front hole.
In cold weather, when the room is hermetically sealed, cool air from the street is sucked in through the tube, then it passes through a channel warmed by the battery and warms up. As a result, it comes out at almost room temperature.
The flow level of such a ventilator is small, but sufficient for one room. You can install a low-power device in each room, rather than making one large one, which will not be able to warm the air from a single battery. It is worth noting that the ventilator will be useless if there is no exhaust ventilation in the room.
