Is there a draft from the balcony door? How to fix
Over time, the mechanisms installed in plastic windows wear out or fail altogether. The door may stop latching or sag, catching the threshold. Do I need to call a technician to fix the problems? Perhaps, after adjusting the product yourself, you will not need to call a technician. We will discuss below how to repair a balcony door yourself.
How to adjust a door yourself without a technician
First, let's study the balcony door mechanism in order to understand what needs to be adjusted and fixed.
The plastic balcony door is attached to the frame profile using the lower and upper hinges. On the same hinges, you can adjust the door from left to right and up to down. To lower or raise the door, remove the decorative cap from the hinge. At the top, there is access to a hexagon. If you turn the hex clockwise, the door will rise. To lower the door, turn it counterclockwise.
If the door has moved to the left or right and does not latch well, you need to rotate the inner bolt of the lower hinge. To get to it, open the door completely.By rotating the bolt clockwise, the sash is pressed against the hinge, and the top opposite the hinge is lowered. And vice versa.
The same adjustment can be made with the top hinge. We open the sash completely, turn the hexagon clockwise, and the door is pressed against the hinge, or, on the contrary, we move the sash away from the hinge, turning it counterclockwise.
Also, it is worth paying attention to the location of the trunnions located on the locks and the corner switch from the scissors. There are three trunnion positions recommended for each season. Winter spring autumn summer. They can be adjusted using pliers.
Well, one last thing. The rubber door seal deteriorates over time and requires replacement. Doing this yourself will not be difficult. First, remove the tire you are replacing. Clean the groove from dust and dirt. To ensure that the new seal fits well, apply glue to the corners in the grooves. Starting from any corner, insert the new rubber seal into the groove. It is advisable that the joint be in the corner of the sash. And the excess sealant should be cut off afterward, so as not to make a mistake with the size and not leave a gap between the joint of the sealant.
If all of the above methods for eliminating a draft from the door did not help, you should call a professional. Perhaps some hardware mechanisms have failed. The master will handle this. I do not recommend unscrewing and removing the fittings from the product yourself.
