10 useful knots that will come in handy in life
The average person uses the simplest knots when working with rope. As a result, after tightening, it is easier to cut them than to untie them. We offer 10 useful knots for all occasions that are easy to unravel.
1. Untying knot
At the end the rope is folded in half. Then you need to circle it around the anchor, and insert the doubled long edge into the loop.
The knot is pulled up to secure the loop, after which a short edge folded in half is inserted into it. After this, by pulling the long end you can finally tighten it.
The result is a strong knot that can be instantly untied by pulling the short edge. This can be useful when setting up tents, marquees, etc.
2. Knot for pulling out pillars and pegs with a lever
The rope is folded in half. Its loop is placed around a post or stake that needs to be pulled out of the ground. The folded ends are passed through it 2 times, after which it is tightened.
One end of the rope is folded in half. On the resulting loop, you need to make a full turn with the second end. Then it is pulled into its own ring formed from the whorl.
A lever is inserted into the resulting eyes, by pulling which you can pull out a post or stake. With this method of tying, the rope will not be pulled into a tight knot, and it can then be untied.
3. Quick splicing of ropes
The edges of the ropes are folded in half. One loop is inserted into another. The short edge from the inner rope is passed through its own ring.
The short end of the outer rope is wound into the same loop as the first end. The knot is then tightened. In the future, untying it will not be as difficult as with regular tying.
4. Sliding untie knot
The edge of the rope is thrown over the crossbar or support. A loop is folded at the long end.
One turn is made on it with a short edge. Then you need to fold it in half from the beginning of the loop and insert it into it.
If you pull the long edge of the rope, the knot will tighten. To untie it you need to pull out the short end. Moreover, if you support the long edge and pull the knot, it can be moved.
5. Splicing ropes
The edges of the rope are folded crosswise. One of them wraps around the second along the side of the long edge. Then do the same with the second rope.
After this, the short edges just need to be tied into a simple knot. By pulling the long ends you can finally tighten the ropes, completing the splicing. Under load, such a knot will not compact much, so it can be untied.
6. Towing untie
This unit will help when heavy tension is applied, for example, when towing. The rope is launched into an eye or crossbar from below. Then the short edge is circled behind the long one, and inserted again, but from above.
Then the edges are brought together and pulled up, but not completely.A short rope is folded in half and its loop is inserted into the first 2 rings. By pulling the main edge, you can tighten the knot. After use, it is untied by pulling out the short one.
7. Slip knot
The rope is thrown over the anchor. A ring is folded on the long edge and the short end is inserted into it.
The short edge needs to be circled around the long one and inserted into the ring from the exit side. Then, by pulling on the main half of the rope, the knot can be tightened. Having tied in this way, you can move the sling along the anchor.
8. Clamp assembly
If you need to tighten the hose on a fitting or faucet, you need to wrap a thin cord around it. Then one edge is traced behind the hose under the second tail of the lace.
After this, it is inserted between the crosshairs and the hose. After which the edges are tightened. The more you tighten them, the more securely the clamp holds.
9. Barrel knot
This knot can be used to beautifully hang a flower pot. For this, the edges of the rope need to be spliced as carefully as possible to create a ring. It is laid out on the floor or table in the form of a figure eight with a small ring. A pot is placed on her crosshairs.
The large ring needs to be taken in the center and dragged towards the small one, then passed into it. The result will be 3 loops that need to be aligned, the central one being made the largest.
The central loop goes over the pot and smaller loops. She needs to be brought under them. Then all that remains is to grab it through the small loops and pull it up. As a result, the rope will wrap around the pot and you will get 2 handles.
10. Sliding unit with braking
This unit can be used to lower heavy loads. For this you need a towing eye. One end of the rope is tied to the anchor. The second one then wraps around the towing eye.
The free edge needs to be circled behind the rope going to the anchor and inserted into the eye or insert her finger into it. When the free edge of the rope is taut, the eye does not move. If you loosen it, it will slide down. This can be used to lower loads from heights. By pulling the rope below you can slow down the descent.
