The process of inserting a tap into a tank or barrel
The first thing you need to do is mark the place on the container for the insert. The lower it is, the less unused water remaining will be. Then you need to drill a hole for the fitting. If there is no crown of the appropriate diameter, then you can outline the insert with a marker, and then make perforation along the contour with a thin drill.
It is advisable to degrease the surface around the hole from the outside. Then a fitting with a gasket is inserted into the hole from inside the container.
The same gasket and nut are installed outside. If the container has round walls, then it may not be possible to tighten the nut so that the gaskets are evenly compressed and ensure complete tightness. In this case, you need to additionally apply silicone sealant. It will fill the uneven areas and there will be no leaks.
Then the tap itself is screwed onto the fitting. Seal the threads with anaerobic sealant, flax or fumlente. That's it, the container can be filled with water and used for its intended purpose. If silicone was used, it is better to wait a day for it to dry.
