Is your toilet tank overflowing and not holding water? Easy repair without replacing components
Over time, any toilet begins to leak. This can be determined by the characteristic ripples of the water mirror in the bowl, or by the sound of gurgling. This continuous leakage results in tens of cubic meters of water being drained into the sewer system, for which you have to pay. Often, stopping the overflow is not at all difficult, and you don’t even need to buy anything.
What you will need:
- Screwdriver;
- pot;
- plate.
Toilet repair process
The first step is to remove the drain button and the tank lid. If you have an overflow, then you will see that water flows from above into the central through tube of the drain fittings. In this case, it is necessary to repair the intake mechanism.
Turn off the tap and drain the water from the tank. Then unscrew the nut securing the filler fitting by hand.
After removing it, we disassemble the housing from the pipe side and find a large rubber gasket.
It is necessary to remove the gasket and wash it from plaque. Often this is what prevents the seal from sealing.
If there are dents on the gasket, it must be restored by boiling for 5-10 minutes.After this, it will return to its original shape and can be put back in place.
You should also check the gasket on the stem side. To do this, the clip is detached from it. Next, use a screwdriver to pry up the lever and remove it as well.
There is a small rubber gasket in the lever. It also needs to be washed. If there is a dent on it, then it should be turned over or boiled.
After servicing the gaskets, the mechanism is put back together.
Now the water will shut off normally and there will be no overflow.
