New life for an old computer disk
95% of the world's population have personal computers, and with them a variety of digital media for storing information. One of these devices is a computer disk, which, like any other thing, has its own service life. Moreover, it is easy to damage. One or two scratches - and you can send it to a landfill. What about disks with outdated information? It’s a shame to throw them away, but there’s nowhere to use them, so they gather dust on the shelf, taking up space and adding to the mess. Common situation? Then it's time to revise your home and turn old computer disks into wonderful little things that will decorate your interior.
Candlesticks “Winter-Summer”
To make candlesticks you will need: a pencil, a lighter or matches, self-adhesive paper, nail polish with glitter, super glue, decoration attributes (beads, tinsel, pine cones, bows, flowers) and, of course, the main characters of our project - old computer disks. Select materials for decoration based on your design ideas.
The first stage of work is making the base. Take the disk and give it the desired shape using a lighter and a pencil. We successively melt the edges of the disk, bending them towards the center so that the result is a kind of bowl.
We cut out a circle of a suitable diameter from self-adhesive paper and seal the middle of the disk.
Next we decorate our candlestick. (“Winter” – tinsel, pine cones, spruce branch, bow, boot. “Summer” – artificial flowers, leaves, stones or beads, butterflies.) We fix all the elements with super glue.
Add some sparkle to our candle holders with a few drops of nail polish.
The final touch is to insert the candle and light it. Our creative candlestick “Winter-Summer” is ready.
Mug stand “Cheerful Balls”
Who among us doesn’t like to while away the morning sitting at a computer desk with a cup of aromatic tea? And you know very well that a hot cup leaves stains on the countertop. So why not make a stand that is bright and positive?
To make one “Cheerful Balls” stand you will need: 2 computer disks, a skein of colored thread, super glue, 1 cotton swab, 2 medium beads, 2 buttons.
Glue the two disks together so that only the silver side is visible. We attach a cotton swab cut in half to the underside, and close the void in the middle of the disk with a flat button.
We treat the surface of the disk with glue and begin to thread the thread from the center to the edges (the movement of the thread is circular). We do the same with the other side. We string beads onto toothpicks and get our “Merry ball with knitting needles”.
This is how, by turning on your imagination, you will turn an unnecessary disk into a useful, uplifting thing.
