Dot painting of a clock made from a vinyl record.
Spot painting is a simple technique for decorating interior items that does not require drawing skills.
We will turn an ordinary record into an original and colorful watch.
To work we will need:
1. Vinyl record.
2. Contours on glass and ceramics.
3. Brush.
4. Acrylic paint and varnish.
Step 1. Soak the label from the plate and carefully sand off the remaining paper, achieving a smooth surface.
Step 2. Paint the surface of the circle with paint using circular movements of the brush. If you want to get an opaque background, you first need to prime the surface with white acrylic. In this case there is no primer, so the background has dark scuffs. After the paint has dried, apply a layer of varnish and dry with a warm hairdryer.
Step 3. Take the outline and place the first row of dots along the entire circumference. The points should be large and at an equal distance from each other. To obtain even dots, hold the tube in your fingers like a regular pen, placing the nozzle vertically to the surface, and adjust the size of the dot using squeezing force.
Step 4. Wait for the first row to dry (about 20 minutes) and draw the second and third rows of dots.Make sure that the rows and points do not merge with each other.
Step 5. We begin to draw the next row of dots along the circle visible on the plate.
Step 6. Wait until all the rows are completely dry, apply a dial template suitable for the size of the plate and mark the numbers with a soft pencil.
Step 7. Using a ruler, we mark the numbers with a contour, placing small dots within a large circle.
Step 8. Draw sketches of numbers using small dots. If it doesn’t work out, then after drying the dots can be easily erased and painted again. If you like the sketch, then draw the numbers with large dots.
Step 9. After the dial is drawn and dried, we draw another row of large dots along the path of the outer edge of the plate.
Step 10. Decorate our watches with Indian paisley patterns. The ornament is drawn with a three-dimensional outline for glass with sparkles. We apply the drawing with solid dots so that the end result is a thick line. While the contour is wet, it is white, after drying (about 40 minutes) the lines become transparent and voluminous interspersed with sparkles.
Step 11 and last.
We outline the ornament along the inner and outer parts with ordinary contours, placing small dots as close to each other as possible. We insert the clock mechanism and admire the result!
