Eyes for dolls
Everyone, literally everyone, sculpted from plasticine in childhood. Modeling is included in the preschool development program for citizens. Some did better, some did worse. Some are already old, but they enjoy passing the time by modeling various figures. One problem is that the life of plasticine sculptures is not long-lasting. They are afraid of light, heat, and seem to attract dust to themselves. Perhaps the desire to perpetuate the fruits of one’s creativity led to the emergence of plasticine animation. But this is just a guess.
In the era of gadgets, the widespread availability of cameras and all kinds of recording devices, the hobby for plasticine has moved to a new level. Plasticine animation has become a popular hobby. Creating a cartoon from plasticine develops fine motor skills, memory and creative thinking. Therefore, there are already many children's animation studios in the countries of the former Soviet Union and around the world.
Beginning animators have the same problems when working with a plasticine figurine. We will talk about how to solve one of them.
The principle of creating a cartoon using plasticine is both simple and complex at the same time. The figure is photographed, changing its position from frame to frame. This is where the main catch lies. Plasticine gets dirty when used. The “actor’s” teeth and eyes are especially affected. In addition to the fact that they change color from white to all neighboring ones, they also wrinkle. How to avoid this? There is a solution. While doll eyes are sometimes found in craft stores, teeth are more difficult to find. So why not make them yourself? For this you will need polymer clay. One medium piece of white clay will be enough for hundreds of eyes and jaws with teeth.
Open the pack of clay. Let's warm up. We roll the sausage. Cut bars of the same size. We divide each block exactly in half again. After all, the eyes should be the same. Roll the balls and give them an egg shape or leave them round. Now bake in the oven at 130 degrees C for no more than 5 minutes. Let them cool down. All that remains now is to finish drawing the pupils. The pupils can be made colored using polymer clay, but to do this you will need to buy several more packages of clay of different colors. We do teeth almost the same way. Press the small sausage lightly with a knife. Then we make a perpendicular cut (but do not cut) in the middle. It will serve as a gap between the front incisors. We repeat the procedure until we get a “fence”. Now we use a knife to cut the future “Hollywood smile” lengthwise. Bend it according to the shape of the jaw. And into the oven. Of course, you should make a lot of them in order to bake them all together. When the products have cooled, find a suitable box for them so that they do not get lost.
