Cup stand
From multi-colored balls of woolen threads you can make bright coasters for cups in the form of small woolen rugs, which will certainly come in handy around the house.
To make the stand you will need:
- knitting threads in white, red and yellow colors,
- cardboard,
- scissors,
- Crochet hook,
- ruler,
- pencil,
- PVA glue,
- pin,
- needle,
- foam rubber.
Operating procedure.
1. Cut a square of cardboard measuring 21 x 21 cm. Measure 2 cm from each edge, draw another square inside the square and cut it out. You will get a cardboard frame. Cut out another frame exactly the same.
2. Glue the frames together. This is necessary so that the frame is rigid enough. Draw horizontal lines on two opposite sides, and on each line with a simple pencil mark points at a distance of 0.5 cm from each other.
3. Take foam rubber, put a cardboard frame on top, and pierce all the designated points one by one with a pin.
4. Thread a white woolen thread into a needle and tie a knot at its end. This thread needs to be pulled between the opposite sides of the frame, threaded through the holes made. When the thread runs out, you need to tie a new piece of thread to its end and continue to pull the thread between opposite sides of the frame. When the thread is stretched across the entire frame, tie a knot at the end so that it is well stretched.
5. Take a piece of red thread and tie one end to a pin. You can start weaving. You need to step back from the edge of the frame about 4 cm and thread the red thread between the stretched white thread - either above the thread or under the thread. It is important that this order does not go astray.
6. Make 20 rows with red thread. It is necessary to ensure that the rows lie tightly to each other; to do this, you can adjust the threads with your fingers or a pin. Then tie a yellow thread to the red thread and start weaving with the yellow thread
7. Make 16 rows with yellow thread.
8. Now you need to tie the red thread to the yellow one again and continue weaving.
9. Make 20 rows with red thread. Tie the end of the thread to the white thread at the edge of the weave.
10. Use scissors to cut the white threads holding the rug to the frame.
11. Tie the free ends of the white threads together in pairs - this will create a fringe on two opposite sides, and the rug will not unravel.
12. Also make fringe on the remaining two sides. To do this, you need to cut 32 pieces of white threads, each 10 cm long. 16 threads for each side.
13. Using a hook, pull the doubled thread through the edge of the rug. You will get a loop.
14. Pull the ends of the white thread into this loop and tighten.
15. In this way, make a fringe on both sides.
16. Use scissors to trim the fringe.
17. Straighten the mat-stand. It is advisable to carefully wash it by hand so that the threads are straightened and arranged more evenly. Dry the mat flat on a flat surface.
The supply under the bowl in the form of a small rug is ready.
You can make a whole set of such bright coasters.
