Gold-plated leather flower
I recently made a small hole in my favorite burgundy bag. Well, don’t throw it away just because I’m such a bungler. It was decided to find a piece of leather to match the color, make a flower out of it, decorate it a little with gold and close the hole. By the way, it turned out very wonderful.
To make a flower we will need:
- Genuine Leather;
- acrylic paint on fabric (gold and silver);
- scissors;
- glue or glue gun;
- a piece of foam rubber;
- feathers;
- candle;
- a piece of cardboard;
- marker.
To begin with, I cut out 3 shapes from cardboard, which will later be the flower petals. I made a small, medium and large shape.
Then trace these petals on a piece of leather. Make the largest petals the most. All the rest depending on how lush the flower you want.
Advice. It is better to outline the petals with a marker; a ballpoint pen draws well on the skin only at the very beginning, then the ball becomes clogged with lint and the pen refuses to write. (You can see on the middle petal that I painted it all the time).
The drawings show that the pen traced some of the petals well, but then refused to draw.
We carefully cut everything out. Don't mix up the piles.
Burn the edges of the petal on a candle. Do not allow the leaf to be too bent.
Making the base for the flower. We will glue the petals onto it.
We glue the petals in a chaotic order. Make sure there are no spaces between the leaves.
When one layer of petals has already been glued, use a sponge to apply gold paint to them. It is best to use acrylic on fabric from DECOLA. Do not apply paint to the entire petal. You just need to “slap it”. When working with acrylic, it is best to place newspaper or oilcloth on the table, otherwise it will be difficult to wash off the paint.
When the large petals are glued, we begin to glue the middle ones in the center. We glue all the leaves to the center without any indents. Again we decorate everything with gold paint. Glue the last, 3rd row of small petals. We paint the upper leaves with white and gold paint. To do this, we use the same piece of foam rubber.
The next step is to cut out a circle from the leather again, generously coat it with super glue and glue the feathers to it. You don't have to glue them along the entire diameter; you can do it on just one side.
The last step is to attach a piece of leather with feathers to the bottom of the flower, and decorate the middle of the flower with any round button, an old plaque from boots or a jacket, or simply sprinkle some beads in the middle with glue and let it dry. The flower is ready. If you have a flower whose leaves face in different directions when fired, then generously coat the inside of each leaf with PVA glue and give it a shape. When the petals are completely dry, they can be attached to the bag.
