Stylish skirt made from old jeans
Denim is versatile. It produces trousers that fit perfectly on any figure, fashionable jackets, and summer sundresses. These things are almost impossible to take down. If the fabric has lost color, it can be dyed, and if it is leaky, a decorative patch will cover the hole. And holes in jeans themselves have long been in fashion.
What to do with an old thing?
But very often jeans fray along the inner seam. In such a place, the patch does not look very aesthetically pleasing, and wearing such a thing with additional seams becomes inconvenient. In this situation, it occurs to you that you will have to throw away your old jeans, but if you have some imagination, you can remake them. Scissors, thread, sewing machine, 2 hours of time, and the end result is a stylish denim skirt.
Advantages of the model
A denim skirt is a universal thing. You can wear it to lectures, go shopping or go out into nature. The same knee-length model is suitable for romantic natures. Contrasting inserts perfectly refresh the item, and thanks to them, the hem expands interestingly downwards.
Preliminary preparation
Jeans need to be washed first. Select fabric for inserts. Coton with a pattern is perfect. The color of the fabric or pattern should be close to blue or light blue. You can also use denim, such as cut-off pants. But in this case, when hemming, the bottom edge may turn out to be too rough and will puff up.
Conversion Instructions
1. Rip out the inner crotch seam. Carefully remove all the threads and iron the fabric. We cut off the worn areas, trying to ensure that the cut lines duplicate the original edge of the part.
2. Measure the desired length of the skirt and draw cut lines on the legs. To do this, you can use a chalk or a small piece of soap. Light stripes are clearly visible on dark fabric, and after washing, such lines disappear without returning.
3. Cut the legs. We remove unnecessary things.
4. Now you need to outline where the side inserts will be located. To do this, measure the middle of each front half and draw a line to the top of the product. We do the same with the “back” parts.
5. We make cuts along the drawn lines.
6. The next step is making the wedges. To do this, we spread the cuts to the required width, put paper under the fabric (or just fabric for the wedges), outline the contours with a simple pencil, add 1 cm to the seams. Cut out 6 wedges.
7. We apply the wedges to the denim “face to face”, pin them with bobby pins and attach them.
8. We process all the seams and the bottom of the product.
