Decorative jute box
At first glance, jute rope is most often used for tying up some kind of cargo. However, even from it you can create interesting things, for example, a box, vases, bags, etc. I would like to suggest making a small box. This cute little thing will decorate your interior in retro style. You can store some wooden things in it - a ring, a bracelet or beads, a pendant. In this box you can put a small present for lovers of antiquity. The base is a spool of thread; you can also use a spool of wide tape.
So, the materials needed for the box:
First, let's make the bottom for the box. To do this, draw a pencil on the inside of the cardboard cylinder and get a circle.
It needs to be cut out, leaving an allowance for bending of about 5 mm.
We make cuts and glue the bottom inside the cylinder.
Glue another circle on top for strength, measuring the circumference from the outside of the cylinder.
Take jute or rope and twist it into a spiral. We attach it to the bottom with silicone glue in the middle and continue to wrap the cardboard blank until we cover the entire bottom.
We move to the side part and also wrap the workpiece to the top, cut the rope. Be careful not to let the cardboard show through.
Take a hook and knit a chain of air loops as long as the circumference of the cylinder.
If there is no hook, you can weave a braid or make a rope out of rope, glue it decor to close the top cut.
The lid can be made using the same principle as the bottom, only using cardboard for the side. I crocheted it from jute.
I cast on 2 air loops, knitted 12 single crochets into the third, then doubled the number of loops, that is, up to 24. In the third row I knit 36 loops.
And the next two rows are knitted without changes, that is, 36 loops each, to form a lid.
I also knitted a circle using the same principle up to 24 stitches and 1 row without changes. I placed this circle inside to cover the cardboard sections at the bottom.
We cut off a small piece of rope and attach it to the back, that is, we connect the main part and the lid.
We attach a small piece of rope to the front side and tie 1 wooden bead to its ends.
We tie the ends of the rope in front with a bow.
The box for small items is ready.
