Candied melon
What should I chew? Personally, I hear this question every day, more than once. Although, most likely, for most mothers it has already become familiar. Sweets prepared at home cannot be compared with store-bought ones, but sometimes you don’t have enough time, sometimes the products are more expensive, but candied fruits are worth making them yourself. Moreover, they can be made from any fruit, for example melon. Be sure to try it. In winter it will be a real delicacy. For 1 kg of melon you will need a kilogram of sugar and 2 glasses of water. Prepare the syrup. Mix sugar with water and cook over very low heat until it is completely dissolved. Do not be distracted so that the syrup does not burn, it must be constantly stirred. When the syrup is ready, you can dip the melon pieces into it. It must first be cut into slices.
Peel and make even pieces.
Place the slices in hot syrup and simmer over low heat for 5-7 minutes. Take a break for 7-10 hours, boil again, and so on three times. Mix gently so as not to damage the shape of the slices.
After the third time, you need to put the whole mass in a colander to drain the syrup, place the candied fruits on a baking sheet, and dry for 10-15 minutes in a preheated oven.
When serving, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
If you want to prepare it for the winter, place the melon slices in a clean, dry jar and immediately seal it tightly.
