Magnetic knife holder
I recently learned a very simple way to make a magnetic knife holder with my own hands. This handy gadget has been missing from my kitchen for a long time, as my wife often reminded me of.
It turns out that such a holder can literally be assembled from what is available. The idea is this: make a thin frame from wooden slats, cover one side with plastic, and cover it with decorative film for appearance. And glue any pieces of magnets from dynamic heads, hard drives, etc. inside.
I used a ledge from IKEA in the same color as the kitchen and a sheet of stainless steel from an old coffee machine. Magnets from old hard drives.
The magnets are glued with hot glue. You can also fill them with epoxy resin.
If you have access to a milling machine, you can take a solid piece of wood, such as a block. Mill a groove, insert magnets and decorate with varnish. It will look very stylish.
But it’s still better to use stainless steel, since the metal is thin and the magnetic force attracts the knife more strongly.
My magnetic holder is screwed on with regular bolts on the sides.
My wife is now happier than ever and enjoys using my homemade product.
Such practical things, despite their small size, are very useful.
