Spice jars
If your spices are stored in the open bags you bought them in, then be prepared for the flavors to mix and then dissipate. It is better to store any spices in opaque, tightly closed containers. In order not to spend money on purchasing special sets, you can make jars for storing spices with your own hands. Today you will learn how to turn glass baby food containers into beautiful containers for seasonings and herbs.
Prepare the jars: wash, remove the label, dry. It is best to take the smallest ones, the volume of which does not exceed 100 g.
To create texture on the surface, glue pieces of eggshell around the circle of each jar. It is securely fixed to the glass with PVA glue.
This is what the containers look like after the glue has dried.
Now they need to be coated with acrylic primer. Apply the first layer with a brush.
It is advisable to apply all subsequent layers to the surface with a piece of foam rubber. This way the soil will lie more evenly.
The following photo shows jars completely covered with white acrylic primer.
The textured part of the containers is decorated with pieces of decoupage napkins with a beautiful ornament.
Don't forget about decor lids. For them, cut a thin strip from a napkin.
It is necessary to separate the topmost bright layer from three-layer paper, apply it to the surface and coat it with PVA glue on top.
It will seep through the paper, and the ornament will stick securely to the textured surface of the jar.
A narrow strip needs to be glued to the rim of the lids in the same way.
Now mix yellow and green gouache by adding a drop of PVA glue.
Using the resulting paint, write the names of the spices on the lids, using a very thin brush.
After this, add more yellow gouache to the coloring mixture (to make it lighter) and decorate the entire surface of the jars with foam rubber.
This is how they should be transformed as a result of your actions.
All that remains is to cover them with 2 layers of glossy colorless varnish.
The spice containers are ready for use. Pour seasoning or spice into each of them according to the name on the lid, which then screw tightly.
This way your spices will be protected from moisture, sunlight and foreign odors.
These miniature jars will fit on any shelf, they do not take up much space and are easy to use.
