Exclusive spice jars
Tart, hot and unusually fragrant spices and herbs are not just a culinary whim, but an integral ingredient of any oriental colorful dish. But despite their high position in the kitchen, they are usually stored in ordinary paper bags in bulk somewhere in the far corner of the cabinet. We suggest you correct this injustice and make bright and unusual dishes for spices from ordinary baby food jars.
For the manufacture of crafts you will need:
1. Directly the baby food jar itself of any manufacturer and volume;
2.Acrylic or oil paints (we will use oil paints for painting);
3. PVA glue;
4. Decorative elements made of polymer clay, which can be purchased at any sewing store (if you are fond of modeling and have free time and opportunity for this, then you can make such decorations yourself in advance);
5. Nail polish remover, alcohol or other degreaser;
6. Transparent varnish for acrylic paints (we used glossy, but you can also choose a matte version);
7.Brush, cotton wool and container in which you will stir the paint.
But before we begin the creative process, the jar should first be thoroughly rinsed, clearing it of any remaining baby food and traces of the label, and dried. And the lid should be degreased with nail polish remover as in our case, otherwise fingerprints will not allow the background to be evenly colored.
So, now that all the preparatory measures have been completed, in the container of your choice (it is advisable to use a metal container) mix oil paints and PVA glue in a 1:2 ratio (this is done so that the paint lays on the surface of the lid in a thin, uniform layer and did not peel off) to a homogeneous consistency. Photo No. 5 And then start painting your lid with the resulting mixture, starting from its rim and ending with the main part.
After the paint has dried thoroughly and provided that the surface of the lid does not need to be covered with a second layer (this need may arise if, after the paint has dried, any inscriptions will still appear on it), cover it with transparent acrylic varnish and again -Put it aside until completely dry. By the way, you can even apply the varnish in several layers so that the paint does not wear off during further long-term use of the jars (remember that each subsequent layer should be applied only after the previous one has completely dried).
Actually, this is where the bulk of the work ends - all that remains is to use the same PVA glue (as an alternative, you can use any other glue) to fix the decorative element made of polymer clay on the lid.
And now our spice jar is completely ready! Now you can safely take it to the kitchen and use it for its intended purpose.
