Knife for cutting tape from plastic bottles
Drink bottles can be found anywhere these days. From food containers, they often turn into garbage that litters public places - parks, beaches and other recreational areas. However, some people find special uses for them, considering them far from garbage. How do they do this?
One of the most common uses of plastic bottles is to turn them into ribbons of various widths. This trend has become so popular today that it has turned this semi-finished product into a separate material for creativity in various areas of human life. It’s simply unthinkable that DIYers are proposing to make them out of them. Even designers of clothing, handbags and accessories have become adept at using PET tape in their creations.
If you have creative ideas, this material will undoubtedly inspire you and help you realize the most incredible ideas. Making such a tape is not at all difficult if you have a special device - a knife for cutting tape. Today we will show you how to make it in a few minutes.
And all we need is a plastic bottle cap and a painting knife! How is this possible? Let's take a look together.
First, unscrew the cap from the plastic bottle and use a small paint knife to make cuts on its sides. They need to be made in opposite directions. Having cut them to the base or bottom of the lid, we bend it in the middle.
Approximately in the middle of the remaining area of the bottom, we make a through cut with a knife. This must be done on both sides of the bend line.
Bend the lid and thread the tip of the knife blade into the cuts made. The blade should be threaded through the lid approximately 15-17 mm.
Then we take an empty PET bottle and cut off its neck. This is easy to do with regular scissors.
To ensure that the base of the bottle remains stationary, we use a glass ashtray to fix it. It is heavy and will prevent the base of the bottle from moving from side to side.
To obtain the tape, make an incision on the top edge of the bottle with a knife blade. We thread it through the bend and pull the resulting tape out from under the knife. By smoothly moving the knife along the edge of the bottle, we obtain a clearly calibrated tape, the size of which varies from the indentation of the knife blade to the bend line of the cap.
The bottle is processed in this way to the very bottom, leaving only a small relief part of the bottom untouched.
In this simple way you can easily and simply get excellent material for new creative ideas. After all, this is much better than throwing away these bottles, turning them into practically non-degradable garbage!
