Making a table from a door

It is necessary to clean the door, removing all traces of grease and old paint. You can use a grinding machine for this, or we clean it the old fashioned way by hand with coarse sandpaper.
The door itself is thin for a countertop. And to give the table a more serious look and add strength, we will cover the perimeter of the door with a wider board.
We cut the boards.

It depends on the doors.Modern wooden paneled ones won’t work because they are uneven, so you’ll have to make a covering out of something. And those glued from MDF or chipboard cannot withstand any load.
Now, if you are lucky enough to find dismantled old Soviet doors, you are lucky. You can not only make a table out of them, but also then stand on it. I have come across doors in which the space between the fiberboard sheets was fully filled with small wooden blocks!

Overall, not bad. I'll take note, I have a door... it would be a shame to throw it away, but there is nowhere to hang it. but the table will have what you need!

Well, I tried it. Bullshit No. 1 - the table top turns out to be heavy and the fastening of the legs, as shown by the author, is unreliable; under the influence of the weight of the legs, the fasteners break off. Here either additional reinforcement is needed, essentially tying the legs into a rigid frame.

Bullshit #2: An old door can have an uneven surface (and will!). Mine was convex on one side. and correspondingly convex on the other side. Partially it was solved by using slats across the tabletop, near the legs - they more or less straightened the door. but the final leveling of the plane is, of course, putty. only it will take little more than just covering up the cracks.
Bullshit No. 3: it turns out so damn heavy...
