New Year's costume for a child
On the eve of New Year's holidays and matinees, every mother strives to dress her child appropriately. Unfortunately, not every family can afford to buy a ready-made carnival costume today. But sewing it yourself is within the capabilities of any housewife.
For work you will need crepe-satin fabric: white and yellow one meter, red - 30 centimeters; eraser, paper and pencil for a pattern, measuring tape, scissors, tailor's pins, thread and needles.
We draw out a pattern for the future overalls on paper: for those who don’t know how to design a pattern, you can attach the child’s old overalls to the paper and trace it along a free contour, taking into account the crotch seam. We cut out the pattern and pin it onto the fabric with tailor's pins. The fold of the fabric should coincide with the side seam of the overalls. Allow seam allowances on all sides. We cut out the parts and process the seams with an overlock or zigzag stitch.
Using tailor's pins, we cut off the two halves of the overalls at the seams, baste the seams, and stitch them together on a sewing machine.
We sew in the sleeves.
We make cuffs on the sleeves and trouser legs.We make a drawstring stitch into which we subsequently insert an elastic band.
We cut out a collar from red fabric. To do this, take a piece of fabric 70 centimeters long, fold it in half with the right side inward, stitch along the long edge, turn it inside out and iron it.
We process the side cuts by wrapping them inward and setting them aside. Along the long edge (where the long line was laid), we lay another line with a wide stitch and slightly tighten the thread so that the edge of the collar is gathered.
We pin the collar to the neck, baste and attach.
We make large fake buttons from the remnants of red fabric and attach them to the suit. The Harlequin carnival costume is ready!
