How to make an inexpensive watering tank
Experienced gardeners know that watering plants with cold water is strictly not recommended. They get sick from sudden changes in temperature, and some may develop root rot. How to solve a problem? Make a simple container for heating water using the sun's rays.
The container is made from a sleeve of polyethylene film; its diameter is 1.5 m, length approximately 1.3 m. The thicker the better. The container is supported by a chain-link mesh. The dimensions of the cells do not matter, the length of the mesh is C = 3.14 × d, in our case approximately 4.7 m is required. It is fixed with wire to four metal posts with a diameter of 50 mm, each height is approximately 1.2–1.3 m. It is placed on the bottom dense material, a piece of linoleum of the appropriate size is perfect. To connect water, you need a tap, a coupling, an angle and a plastic tube with a diameter of 50 mm. The polyethylene is glued together with an iron, the film around the pipe is pulled together with two hot rods.
Drill or dig four holes at the tops of a 75 cm square. This is an important parameter. If you do more, the length of the sleeve will not be enough around the circumference.
Install tubes in the holes, cover them with soil, and control the vertical position. There is no need to tamp down too much; the racks are subsequently fixed with a mesh.
Dig a groove 3–5 cm deep around the circumference; it is necessary for filling the bends of the mesh with earth.
Screw the mesh to the posts with wire, leaving some extra length for sewing. Fill the dug ditch with soil and level the base well.
Place a circle made of a piece of old linoleum on the bottom; it serves as additional protection against film breaks.
Place the sleeve on a flat surface, cover both sides with paper or pieces of fabric and glue the bottom with a hot iron. Leave a hole in the middle for the pipe.
Insert the pipe into the hole, tighten the film around it and clamp firmly with two clamps. There must be a square at the end, otherwise the film may close the outlet hole.
Carefully cover the junction with tape. It will prevent damage to the film by the sharp edges of the clamps.
Insert the bag into the prepared fence and screw the tap to the pipe. Straighten the bottom, pour in some water and lift the sleeve onto the mesh.
Sew the mesh, dig a little earth at the bottom along the outer diameter.
Insert the hose and fill the container with water. Cover the top of the mesh along the perimeter with pieces of linoleum; it will protect the film from breaks.
The top of the mesh points are covered with a piece of linoleum.
Fill the tank with water and check the functionality of the structure.
You can add various fertilizers to the water and fertilize at the same time as watering.
