Are you laying tiles? Make a device that will save time 2 times

If you are faced with the task of, say, tiling a bathroom with tiles or ceramic tiles, then I recommend making this simplest device. It will save your time, effort, and also improve the quality of the work performed. Such a device can be assembled right at the work site, since it consists of a couple of bars and a sheet of chipboard, which will probably be at the work site.

Making a device for laying tiles

We take a couple of rectangular bars and a piece of chipboard.

We saw the bars into equal 4 pieces approximately 30 cm long. You can use a regular hacksaw.

Next, you need to secure the sections to the chipboard. To do this with screws, we drill 2/3 of the length of the block with a drill whose diameter exceeds the diameter of the screw head.

Now we place the tiles on a sheet of chipboard, and first screw two bars on each side.

The tiles should move freely between them without getting stuck.
Then, we attach two more bars in the direction of movement of the tile, but make an allowance at the point where the bars join.

Now, on the supply side, we attach a rail raised to the thickness of the tile with tolerances in the form of the thickness of the spatula.

We install a notched trowel to apply glue to the tiles, in the spaces between the joining of the slats.

We fix it with a wooden wedge.

The device is ready.

How to use

Mix the tile adhesive and apply it to the device.

We push the tile that is inside with another tile on the side.

As a result, a tile with a layer of adhesive applied along its entire length comes out from the side of the spatula.

Simply perfect in every way.

All that remains is to stick the tiles on the wall and repeat the process.

Depending on the size of your tiles, one load of mortar is enough for 3-4 pieces. But no one bothers you to make the edges of the device higher, thereby increasing the capacity.

Bottom line

If we take into account the pure time allotted for the masonry itself, without marking and filing work, then thanks to the use of this simple device it is quite possible to reduce this time by at least 2 times.
Also, the quality of glue application will be much higher, since there will be no empty areas around the edges.
