Simple power bank for laptop
For light mobile equipment such as MP3 players and smartphones, there are many different models of power banks available for sale. But what if you work remotely and, say, on a trip, you need your laptop to work for as long as possible than its built-in battery can. Now you will see how to make a simple power bank for a laptop, which will increase its operating time by about 2-3 times.
Will need
- 18650 batteries - 12 pieces -
- Balanced charging controller -
- Boost voltage converter 150 W -
- Laptop power plug.
The balanced charge controller performs the following main functions:
- Provides uniform tension on all elements.
- Controls the charging current.
- Protects against short circuits
A boost converter increases and stabilizes the output voltage.
How to make a power bank for a laptop
The first step is to assemble a 4-section 16.8 V battery, here is the diagram:
We assemble the grille from plastic parts.
We install the elements into the grid.
We solder the elements into a circuit. We solder very quickly, the elements cannot be overheated.
Solder the balanced controller. We glue it to the battery with double-sided tape.
A boost converter is connected to the controller output.
We adjust the output voltage from it and select the value 19.5 V.
We connect the plug from the laptop to the output of the converter.
The power bank for your laptop is ready!
Charging is stable.
How to charge a power bank?
To charge the power bank, you need to apply a voltage of 16.8 V to its controller. If you do not have such a power supply, then you can take a 12-volt one and connect it through the same converter.
We adjust the output voltage at the output.
We charge the batteries.
After charging, the device is ready for use again. All that's left to do is make the body and go on a trip.
