How to modify a post-screw jack into a universal lift for any car
The post-screw jack from old VAZ models is not suitable for modern cars. At the same time, it differs from analogues in its higher lifting height, so in certain cases it is still the best for hydraulic bottle jacks. In this regard, it makes sense to convert it into a universal jack suitable for any passenger car.
It is necessary to weld a stable support for the jack from the channel. It will consist of 5 parts. Of these, one is 440 mm long, two are 150 mm and two are 100 mm. The sole is welded from the cut blanks.
A jack is welded in the center of the resulting platform.
Then the folding support foot is removed from it. It is no longer needed, so it is sent to scrap metal. Instead, a powerful profile pipe is installed. To do this, holes are drilled into which steel pins are inserted. To prevent them from falling out, everything is welded together.The pins must be strong and made of good steel so that they are not cut off under load. You can use old valves as these.
To add rigidity to the structure, additional support from reinforcement is welded. It is fixed to the jack body from the side of the adjustment handle and to the channel base.
2 windows are cut out in the fixed profile pipe of the jack. A gasket cut from hard rubber is inserted into them, which will be used to rest on the bottom of the car. It will eliminate the possibility of damage to the thresholds. The gasket will also prevent slipping.
For aesthetics and protection against corrosion, the modified jack should be painted.
The resulting tool can be used to lift any passenger car within its tonnage. It lifts higher than hydraulic bottle jacks, which can be useful when performing repairs at home in the absence of an inspection hole. Since the design is made with an emphasis on reliability, it is unnecessarily bulky. This is a purely garage version of the tool, not designed for constant transportation in the trunk. Since the jack will be used at home, you can cut off its handle and rotate the adjusting screw with a screwdriver.
