How to make a boat motor from a screwdriver
To motorize a small boat, you can assemble a motor driven by a cordless screwdriver. It is lightweight, inexpensive to manufacture, and can be removed from the stern in one motion.

The motor design is based on a gearbox from a broken angle grinder. It needs to be removed and lightened by cutting off the excess part of the cast body. The impeller is cut off from the motor armature. Then you need to dismantle its core with the winding, leaving only the shaft.

The armature shaft is extended with a rod of the same diameter. It is important to cook them as evenly as possible. The length of the long shaft should be sufficient so that after the gearbox is submerged under water while sitting on a boat, you can comfortably reach the screwdriver clamped on it.

Then a casing is made from the pipe for a shaft 3-5 cm shorter than it. On one side, a washer with eyes removed from the gearbox is welded to it. On the other, the bearing is pressed in, then the end is welded with a regular washer of suitable diameter.

The shaft and casing are screwed to the gearbox. Then a feather is cut from sheet steel. It is welded to the casing behind the gearbox.

Next, you need to take a pipe of a larger diameter than that used for the casing, and cut a piece of 20-25 cm from it. It is put on the casing.

Then a mount for the screwdriver is made. You need to cut a ring from a pipe with a slightly smaller diameter than its body behind the cartridge. It is cut, and eyes are welded onto its edges to obtain a clamp that is tightened with a bolt and nut. 2 racks are bent from the strip and welded to the clamp and casing. The resulting mount allows you to fix the screwdriver with the shaft clamped in the chuck.

To attach the motor to the boat, you need to weld the inner part of the box guide to the tube sliding on the casing. Its second part is screwed to the board. Subsequently, the board will be attached to the boat.

To prevent the tube attached to the boat from slipping, you need to make stops for it. It is exposed, and a wire is welded to the casing close to it on both sides.

Then all that remains is to make a screw from sheet steel and paint the entire structure. After it dries, the board with the guide is screwed to the boat, and the motor itself with a screwdriver is installed on it.
