How to boost a 4G signal with a homemade antenna in a country house or village
In summer cottages and in the private sector, the 4G signal may not be strong enough. In this case, an antenna must be connected to the modem. This is a very expensive device, which you can make yourself to save money.
Materials:
- sheet of tin or lids for canning;
- long pin M6;
- M6 nuts;
- antenna wire;
- F-connector for coaxial cable;
- mounting angle.
Antenna manufacturing process
Before making an antenna, you need to find out the operating frequency of Internet transmission from your provider. This information is provided by the operator, and it can also be determined by special applications on the phone. Having found out the frequency of the signal, you need to find drawings of the antenna for it on specialized sites. Most often, 4G is transmitted on 2600 MHz.
According to the found drawing, disks of the size indicated in it are cut out of tin or can lids. For example, for the most common frequency of 2600 MHz, you need 3 with a diameter of 30 mm, and one each of 41 mm, 57 mm and 76 mm.
6 mm holes are drilled in the center of the disks.
The discs are clamped on a stud between the nuts. It is important to maintain the distance between them as in the selected drawing.
A hole is drilled in the largest disk, indented from the edge according to the drawing, and an F-connector for the cable is inserted into it. Opposite it, you need to solder the central core of the wire inserted into the connector to the next disk.
A mounting angle is screwed onto the end of the stud in front of the large disk. The antenna cable is wound to it with electrical tape or secured with a clamp.
The antenna is hung on a pole, pole or facade wall by a corner.
A connector for the modem input is connected to the second end of the wire. If it does not provide for connecting an external antenna, then the end of the wire should be exposed 50-60 cm to the central core. It is simply wound onto the modem body. Even with such a connection, the signal and Internet speed will increase.
All that remains is to experimentally set the direction of the antenna in which the modem will receive the best signal.
