How to clean a washing machine tray with the most stubborn deposits if nothing removes them
The powder tray of an old washing machine can become so clogged with powder and lime deposits that even boiling will not help remove them. This is a very persistent mud, which requires heavy artillery and time to combat.
The powder receiver tray is removed from the machine. If this is provided for by the design, then the front cover is disconnected from it. Since deposits are of different nature, their removal is done in several stages. First, the tray is soaked in boiling water with the addition of a handful of citric acid.
As soon as the acid stops fizzing, the tray is placed in a bath of boiling water and soda ash. You can also add baking soda. Leave it in this form for 2 hours. This will remove black mold that has become embedded in the plastic.
To combat hard stone, place the tray in a solution of drain cleaner in hot water. Half a bottle of Mole is used at once. You can add Domestos or another limescale remover to it.
After a couple of hours, if necessary, the tray is immersed in a hot solution of citric acid to remove the lower layers of dirt that have opened under the deposits. You may need to keep it there overnight. To speed up the process, you should periodically heat the solution with the tray on the stove. After this, even the most stubborn deposits and mold will go away.
