A simple way to increase the heat output of the stove and save wood
If the chimney from the stove indoors is a metal pipe, then most of the heat simply goes into the atmosphere. To delay it, you can install a radiator on the chimney. It will increase the heat transfer of the stove, thereby saving wood or coal.
Materials:
- profile pipes 20x20 mm and 20x40 mm;
- galvanized profile for drywall;
- bolts with nuts M6-M8 – 2 pcs.
Radiator manufacturing process
It is necessary to measure the circumference of the chimney pipe and its height from the stove to the ceiling. The radiator will consist of vertically installed sections of profile pipes, pulled to the chimney in a circle using two clamps.
2 racks are cut out of a 20x40 profile pipe, which will rest against the floor and support the weight of the entire structure. The rest of the circumference will be made up of segments cut only to fit the length of the chimney. They are cut from pipes 20x40 mm and 20x20 mm.
2 strips are cut from a galvanized profile to make clamps. You need to fold them in half along the edges so as not to cut yourself while working.
In the long pipes of the supports, on one side, closer to the edge, 2 holes are cut for air intake.Thanks to this, each radiator element, including them, will heat the air with its outer and inner surfaces.
The pipes are laid out in a row as they will be mounted on the chimney. Markings are made on them for installing clamps. According to the marks, the sides of the pipes are cut with a grinder along the edge. The clamps will be passed through these slots.
Pipes are strung on strips. The edges of the clamps are drilled for the bolts. The resulting chain mail is rolled into a cylinder and the edges of the strips are joined. Then the last tube with slots is prepared, which will be put on the tails of the clamps.
The radiator is installed on the chimney so that the clamps press it well. Their edges are closed with a cover pipe. If desired, the radiator can be painted with heat-resistant paint.
