How to update windshield wiper blades with a homemade cutter and save money
Over time, car wiper blades wear out and begin to leave streaks and smudges. If you cut off their worn edge, they will drip like new again. To update brushes at home, you just need to make a special cutter.
Materials:
- wooden blocks;
- a plastic card;
- razor blade;
- glue.
Tool manufacturing and brush repair process
It is necessary to prepare 2 bars. A piece of plastic card is glued between them. At the top of the bars, the rounded parts of the card are glued with a gap of 1 mm.
A cut is made in the workpiece 4.5 mm below the plastic pads. A piece of blade is inserted into it, tip first, and secured with a wedge.
Now lubricant is applied to the brush and distributed along its entire length. Its working part is inserted into the tool. The brush is pulled smoothly through the cutter. As a result, the worn part of the elastic is cut off, and the renewed edge will work as it should. On the back of the cutter you can make a cut 3.5 mm from the plastic. In the future, by rearranging the blade into it, it will be possible to update the brushes that have already been trimmed.
