How to make a miniature and sensitive FM receiver antenna from a marker instead of a long wire
Operating an FM receiver whose antenna is a meter-long piece of wire is not always convenient, and in some cases, sometimes impossible. To add comfort when listening to the radio, the author of the channel “Valery Samodelkin” shows how to build a miniature, helical FM antenna that is highly sensitive, looks stylish and does not cause trouble in its placement.
Will need
- Permanent marker.
- Bolt 6x150.
- 2 nuts and 1 connecting nut.
- Heat-shrink tubing.
- Insulated wire 77 cm long (distance 1/4 wavelength of the FM range).
- Protective cap for the light bulb base (they are thrown away when purchased).
How to make an FM antenna from a marker yourself
Take a marker and use a utility knife to trim the top of the cap.
As a result, the upper wide ring falls off and a pointed surface appears.
We disassemble the body and remove the paint rod. We cut the writing tip and remove it.
The assembly kit is ready.
We drill the bolt with a 2 mm drill in the middle. We put heat shrink on it to cover the part from the cap to the hole.
We insert the bare part of the wire into the hole and twist it for good contact. We wind the insulated part of the wire turn by turn onto the bolt on the side with heat shrink.
We will drill the back cap from the marker and the protective cap from the light bulb in the center for the bolt.
We assemble the antenna. Insert a bolt with a wound wire into the marker body.
Fix it with a nut.
On one side we glue a narrowed cap with super glue, and on the other we put on a light bulb cap and secure it with a long nut.
Use a solvent to erase the name from the body.
We paint everything black.
We install it on a motorcycle.
The reception is great! Even turning the steering wheel does not interfere.
This antenna is much more sensitive than a regular long piece of wire.
Such a mini antenna can be made not only for a motorcycle, but also for a car or simply for a home music center.
