How to stop a leak in the PP stem of a heating radiator tap
Cheap plastic taps on heating systems may begin to leak along the stem. Replacing them during the heating season is often impossible, since the coolant will have to be drained from the system. In an emergency, you can seal the leak very reliably and quickly with a plug.
What you will need:
- plastic plug;
- screwdriver;
- Bulgarian;
- soldering iron for pipes;
- assembly knife.
Leak repair process
The valve of a broken tap is removed. You should immediately check that it is open. Then you need to cut off the plastic valve position clamps on its body. The valve stem is cut flush with the body. If everything is wet, then it needs to be wiped dry. The cylindrical top of the faucet is then heated with a soldering iron and sealed with a plug. This will solve the leak problem and change the tap in the future at the end of the heating season.Watch the video
