How to make an outdoor grill oven from a 200 liter barrel
Most people use a portable barbecue made of sheet steel, which after a couple of uses becomes deformed due to high temperatures. If it is used when traveling to the forest, to the beach or fishing, then thanks to its mobility this drawback can be tolerated. For permanent installation on the site, it is best to make a brick grill. It is much more durable and holds heat better. We offer a universal wood-burning brazier stove made from bricks and barrels.
Materials:
- barrel 200 l;
- bricks;
- cement;
- sand;
- door hinges – 4 pcs.;
- steel door handle;
- door latch;
- steel plate 5-10 mm;
- welded grating.
The process of making a barbecue stove
It is necessary to cut the barrel lengthwise into 2 parts. The cut is not made in half, but with an offset. In this case, a 200 liter barrel with a diameter of 585 mm, the cutting line is made at a section of 530 mm.
In more than half, windows are cut through the ends. One for loading firewood with a width of 200 and a height of 250 mm, and on the opposite side a smaller one for removing smoke and providing ventilation.
Next, the masonry mortar is mixed. To 1 part cement add 5 parts sand.
On a flat base, you need to lay out 2 brick legs for the barbecue in the form of walls.Their width is 2.5 bricks, and their height is 4 rows.
A large half of the barrel is placed on the legs. Then it is secured from the sides with mortar and brick halves.
Inside the barrel, on the side of the wall with a large window, a brick is laid on the same mortar. The opening should be covered, and the opposite wall should be closed in the same way.
Next you need to line the bottom of the stove with bricks. You don’t need to try too hard, even if the solution later cracks, nothing will fall off. The laying is not carried out to the top of the barrel; you need to leave 5-7 cm open from the rim.
The second half of the barrel is screwed to the stove onto the door hinges. A handle is installed on the front of the resulting cover. A wire support is made on the side, similar to supporting the hood of a car.
The previously cut part is installed on the opening for loading firewood. The door is hinged and locked with a latch.
For the stove, a stove is made with round slots for placing pots. For ease of removal, handles are welded to it. It will lie on the bricks. The lattice is cut to the same size.
Ignition of the stove is carried out like a regular barbecue. After the wood burns down to coals, a grate is placed on the brick and cooking is carried out. If you need high temperature, you can cover the lid.
It is also possible to install a stove with burners instead of a grate. Throwing firewood is then done through the side door. This will allow you to cook dishes on it in a saucepan, cauldron, kettle, or just in a frying pan. This set-top box will help out in an emergency when there is no gas or electricity. It is convenient to cook salads for canning.
You can also fire up the stove to heat all the bricks and then lay ceramic tiles on the coals.Meat, pies, bread, pizza or other baking dish are laid out on it.
