How to make glossy wood impregnation oil
To prevent wood from absorbing moisture, it is extremely important to paint it or treat it with a special impregnation. The second product allows you to reveal the natural texture of the wood, giving it a more noble shade. If you need exactly this effect, then prepare impregnating oil according to this recipe.
Components and proportions:
- rosin – 5%;
- linseed/sunflower oil – 35-40%;
- beeswax – 25-30%;
- turpentine – 20-30%.
Oil preparation process
It is necessary to grind rosin and beeswax.
The components are poured into a container and melted in a water bath.
It is important to stir them and make sure that the bottom of the second container does not touch the bottom of the first, as everything will burn.
Oil is poured into the melted ingredients.
It can be unrefined flaxseed or refined sunflower. The wax will turn into flakes when cooled, but after a couple of minutes of heating it will melt again.
When the wax has already melted in the oil, turpentine is poured in and mixed.
The container must be covered, as it will begin to emit a pungent odor.After a minute, the composition is removed from the water bath and cooled.
This impregnation is applied with a rag or bandage. The composition with linseed oil remains liquid, but with sunflower oil it thickens.
Moreover, after treatment with them, the surface looks the same.
Homemade oil gives a slight gloss due to rosin.
It can be applied to bare wood or over stain.
